![]() So imagine using a switcher/looper, with an added robot arm to change settings on each pedal. But Axe-Fx III takes it even further: Every virtual component has four “channels,” each capturing specific settings for the modeled device. So switching scenes is a lot like using stompboxes with an effect switcher/looper. As with Axe-Fx II, each preset can contain eight “scenes” that store the on/bypass status of all the preset’s components. The latest Axe-Fx has a whopping 512 preset slots, but that number is actually deceptively low. I suspect only a miniscule percentage of players could differentiate Axe-Fx III’s models from hardware (i.e., the real thing) in a blind listening test. I think I also hear improvements among some modulation effects (especially phasers and flangers), and pitch shifts seem faster and more hi-res. The final, fading reverb trails-an acid test for digital reverbs-are gloriously naturalistic. Now Axe-Fx stands shoulder to shoulder with the best of today’s dedicated reverb processors. The improvements are most dramatic on ambient effects, especially reverbs. The depth and detail of the modeled amps, cabinets, and effects has improved too, though to my ears, Axe-Fx II already boasted the best modeling in the biz. The latter makes possible one of the device’s most welcome upgrades: a full-color editing screen about the size of a smart phone. There’s also much more memory, as well as dedicated cards for USB communication and graphics. According to Fractal, this means the new unit multiplies the previous iteration’s processing power by 2.8. Meanwhile, a wealth of refinements and upgrades makes it easier to edit, access, and record your sounds.Īxe-Fx III replaces Axe-Fx II’s dual 600 MHz SHARC chips with two 1GHz Keystone processors. It’s an exceedingly powerful and potentially complex piece of gear, yet it’s easy to summarize the highlights: A dramatic increase in processing power means even more detailed and realistic models. And, each layer has its own independent arpeggiator with 11 built-in modes – including some unusual modes such as Shuffle and Improv – that you can use to quickly create melodies.Axe-Fx III is the latest version of Fractal Audio Systems’ flagship hardware amp and effect modeler. Uniquely, the AX73 has two layers that can be split across the keyboard – allowing you to play two patches simultaneously – or stacked, providing an extra dimension of sound design. Split or Stack Layers to build your sound Taking both layers into account, this gives a formidable eight envelopes and eight LFOs. It features four envelopes per layer (three of which are assignable), and four assignable LFOs per layer. The AX73 plugin also offers far greater modulation capabilities than the original. Notable examples include: extra chorus settings and the arpeggiator from the AX60, a second VCO and sub-oscillator from the AX80, and an extended VCO octave range down to 32’, as seen in both the AX60 and 80. The best elements from other synths in the AX range have been distilled into a feature-rich reinterpretation of the AX73. These effects can be routed in any order you like – simply rearrange them by dragging and dropping them in the FX Chain. Process the synth’s output with eight built-in effects units:Ĭompressor, Phaser, Flanger, Chorus, Delay, Reverb, Distortion, and EQ The robust Preset Manager allows you to quickly save and sort your favorite presets into “collections” that you can easily export and share with friends! The Keys View, which emulates the look of the original hardware, has also been upgraded with many more functions – no menu-diving required! Settings View offers a clean, easy-to-use set of parameters for quick editing. And, it includes a generous lineup of 600+ inspiring presets to get you started right away. ![]() With four analog oscillators across two synth layers, unique modulation features, extended performance options, and an eight-module effects section, this plugin AX73 (VST/AU) unleashes the full power of the original hardware and more – no menu diving required, and all perfectly modeled through our Advanced Circuitry Emulation technology. Martinic has taken what was great about the original AX73 and elevated it into a powerful, flexible software instrument that fits right into the modern producer’s lineup of go-to synths. ![]() That’s why the original AX73, with its proudly all-analog signal path ended up flying under the radar. Martinic AX73 v1.3.0 Incl Patched and Keygen-R2R In 1986, the synth skies were studded with digital technology.
